With only a few days left for its launch, the Ford EcoSport facelift has been spied without any disguise at what appears to be a stockyard. The compact crossover will receive a minor mid-life refresh to fend off fresh threats from the likes of Hyundai Creta and Mahindra TUV300.
The immediately noticeable update is the new Golden Bronze (Ford’s lingo for coffee brown) exterior color option which suits the crossover. The official teaser image revealed that the 2015 EcoSport will also get daytime LED running light elements. There are no other cosmetic changes whatsoever, not even a new alloy wheel design.
The updated car receives additional features like automatic headlamps, rain sensing wipers, electro-chromatic mirrors and so on. It’s safe to expect the crossover to offer SYNC 2.0 multimedia infotainment system with AppLink.
Under the hood, the 1.5-litre TDCI diesel engine has now been tuned to deliver 100 PS and 215 Nm of torque which is 10 PS more than the previous version. This state of tune was first introduced in the Figo Aspire compact sedan. The 125 PS 1.0-litre EcoBoost turbo petrol and 112 PS 1.5-litre Ti-VCT petrol motors continue without any change in specifications. The force inducted petrol motor will now be available in mid-level Trend+ variant as well.
Expect the Ford EcoSport facelift to be here anytime soon with a nominal hike in prices.
