Specially built and designed for emerging markets, the EcoSport has been on sale in South American countries like Brazil and Argentina for quite a few months now. For Indonesian markets, the Ford EcoSport will be produced at the company’s Thailand plant and deliveries will begin in 2014
India too awaits the launch of EcoSport. Promotional campaign for EcoSport are already underway in the country. Ford India will show the EcoSport SUV at shopping malls across 12 Indian cities before it is officially launched by June end, for a reported price of INR rs 5.90 lakhs.
Apart from this, a new contest has also been launched, which will give 105 lucky individuals the chance to drive EcoSport before it is launched. The last date to send your entries for EcoSport Urban Discoveries contest, is 31st March, tomorrow.
As the EcoSport compact SUV gets set for Indian launch it is expected to come in with a host of features which include the usual one’s like air conditioning, power steering, power windows and central locking facilities. Besides this, the vehicle will be fitted with special alloy wheels, 60:40 split seats and an In-Car entertainment system with CD/MP3/AUX compatibility. Safety features will include rear parking sensors, driver and front passenger air bags and curtain airbags besides ABS, EBD and keyless entry.
The India bound Ford EcoSport will also bear 200 mm ground clearance and 550 mm water wading facilities and will come in with three engine options. These will include 1.0 liter turbocharged EcoBoost petrol engine, a 1.5 liter turbocharged diesel engine and a 1.5 liter normally aspirated petrol engine each of which will be mated to a five speed manual gearbox.
