Ford EcoSport Malaysia launch nears, previewed at dealer

With official launch dates still not confirmed, Ford is showcasing its EcoSport SUV in two trim levels at SDAC showrooms to gain the attention of buyers across Malaysia. Showcased in 1.5L Trend and Titanium variants, prices are speculated to stand at RM 96k (Rs 18.29 lakhs) to RM 104k (Rs 19.81 lakhs) respectively once launched.

Ford EcoSport MalaysiaFord EcoSport has already made its debut in Bangkok last year where it is also offered on the same two trim levels while being powered by a 1.5 liter Ti-VTEC engine mated to a six speed Powershift dual clutch gearbox.

The Ford EcoSport Trend trim will be seen with a large number of safety features which will instantly appeal to the buyers in Malaysia. These will include two airbags (front), ESP stability control, steering mounted audio control and telescopic steering adjustment. Comforts will come from a manual air conditioning system and fabric seats while six speaker Ford Sync system will be part of the on board infotainment features. Rear seat is foldable so as to enhance luggage area from 362 liters to 702 liters while the Trend trim sits on 16” alloy wheels with 205/60R16 tyres.

Driver seat receives adjustable lumbar support while a central arm rest is also added. On board features include automatic climate control, auto lights and wipers and a sunroof. Seats are done up in leather as against fabric seen on the Trend trim while gear lever and steering wheel are also leather encased. The EcoSport Titanium boasts of keyless entry and keyless engine push start with an additional 12V power socket is seen at the side of the rear seat.

Speaking about the award winning 1.0l EcoBoost variant, well the Ford Malaysia website does mention about it, but there is no mention in the specs sheet below. Expect the 1.0l variant to be launched at a later date.
