Ford Nepal confirms EcoSport SUV launch for less than NPR 40 lakhs

Ford EcoSport is making its way into Nepal by March 2013. Being launched initially as a petrol variant only, the company will be introducing this mini SUV through their local authorized distributors ‘GO Automobiles’. Ford EcoSport being compact in size, will be an asset on Nepal’s road conditions while it is expected to be preferred by Nepali customers especially due to its high level of fuel efficiency and low auto emissions.

Scheduled to enter Nepali markets by end of March 2013, Ford EcoSport petrol variant possesses the pathbreaking, 1.0 liter 3 cylinder EcoBoost engine offering 120PS power and 170 Nm torque. This Ford engine is mated to a six speed Powershift dual clutch automatic transmission and a 5 speed manual gearbox.

Providing 20 kmpl and generating a low level of CO2 levels of 140 g/km makes this SUV economical to run and effective on Nepal roads specially considering its enhanced ground clearance, high bonnet and roof rails. The vehicle possesses LED headlights stylish tail lights and a host of safety features and superbly appointed interiors.

Ford EcoSport comes with a burglar alarm system, a large number of airbags, Anti Lock Braking System, Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, Electronic Stability Program, traction control, Hill Launch Assist and up to date technological features. Ford EcoSport is expected to be launched in Nepal at a price of less than NPR 4 million (INR 25 lakhs).

All Ford cars in Nepal are exported from Ford India’s Chennail plant. Ford EcoSport will be exported to Nepal as CBU. Ford EcoSport SUV’s launch in India can be expected by February 2013. But due to localization, price of EcoSport in India can be expected around Rs 10 lakhs.
