New Ford EcoSport 8 inch touchscreen offered with Titanium and Titanium+ range

First launched in 2013 in India, the new Ford EcoSport soon became the best selling Ford in India. Over the years, the American brand has continuously kept updating the EcoSport range. Once again, Ford India pushed out an important update to the EcoSport range – the addition of touchscreen infotainment system. But sadly, this was only on offer with the Titanium+ range, until now. From this week, it is on sale with Titanium range as well.

The New Things

Apart from the new touchscreen, Ford also announced the launch of new Ford EcoSport Platinum Edition – which is only offered with the top of the line 1.5 TDCi and 1.0L EcoBoost Titanium+ variants. It comes with many new updates, but the highlight is its 8 inch touchscreen system. This new screen will also be the car’s User Interface with the driver / passengers. It will be able to display satellite navigation, DVD player, rear view camera and door ajar warning. Other new things on offer with the Platinum Edition are – black roof, new 17 inch dual tone alloys, and wider tyres.

What about Price?

Trend and Titanium continue to come in with ABS and EBD which is missing on-board the Ambient variant. Titanium and Titanium+ also receive added safety features of side and curtain airbags while ESP and traction Control is offered on the automatic variant.

A few weeks back, Ford announced that driver and co-passenger airbags were now offered as a standard across the EcoSport range. With this safety feature now offered across all variants, Ford has also increased prices. The Ford EcoSport Ambient petrol variant which earlier had a price tag of INR 6,75,000 is now priced at INR 7,30,000, while the Ambient diesel variant which was priced at INR 7,35,900 is now priced at INR 7,97,000.

What’s no more

Though Ford India has updated the top-end EcoSport variant with new features, at the same time, they have deleted many small features. Speaking about the features which will no longer be on offer, have a look at the images below (via Team-BHP).

There is no change in powertrain options and the Ford EcoSport continues to be powered by choice of three engines. These include a 1.5-liter Ti-VCT petrol, 1.5-liter TDCi diesel engine and a 1.0L EcoBoost three cylinder engine. While the 1.5 liter petrol engine is mated to a 6 speed Powershift DCT gearbox, a 5 speed manual gearbox is standard across range.

When is the EcoSport Facelift expected

Ford EcoSport competes head-on with Maruti Vitara Brezza and Mahindra TUV300. It was with the launch of Vitara Brezza that Ford India slashed prices of EcoSport by INR 1 lakh while it now includes dual front airbags as standard to compete favorably with the Brezza. Later this year, Ford India is expected to launch the new facelifted EcoSport, which has already been launched in the US and Brazil.
