Ford EcoSport accident video has gone viral on social media. The video is reportedly from Bangalore. As per the date and time stamp on the video, the incident took place at about 8-30 AM on 13th Sep 2019.
In the video, one can see that the Ford EcoSport is being driven within speed limit, in the middle lane. The driver is not over-speeding, neither cutting lanes or driving dangerously. He is seen driving as any traffic rule abiding citizen should.
Out of nowhere, a truck from the opposite side comes on to his lane, and crashes into him. Due to the impact, the dash camera angle changes, and we get to see the inside of the car. You can watch the video below.
In the video, you can see that the frame changes the moment the driver of the SUV sees the oncoming truck. That is because the EcoSport driver slammed the brakes. But this was not enough, as the truck was approaching fast in the direction of the car and a crash was inevitable.
The time between noticing the truck in the frame, and it colliding with the SUV is less than 2 seconds. The effective speed of the crash is believed to be above 100 kmph. The truck reportedly had a puncture, which resulted in the truck driver losing control over the vehicle and ending up in the wrong lane. Driver and cleaner of the truck too have survived from the crash. They were taken to hospital as they had a few injuries.
Apart from the built quality of Ford EcoSport, it was also the airbags and the seatbelt which saved the driver in the small SUV. Luckily for the owner, this was the top of the line variant. Ford EcoSport safety features on this variant not only had dual airbags, but also side and curtain airbags. All the airbags have deployed as a result of the crash.
Looking at the video, it is surprising to see the driver of the EcoSport exit the car immediately after the crash, and that too without a scratch. This does show how well built the Ford EcoSport is.
Speaking about safety rating, the latest EcoSport was crash tested by NHTSA. For the 2WD variant it got 3 star safety rating and for AWD variant, it got 4 star safety rating. For the owner of the EcoSport above, his car deserves no less than 5 stars rating.
