New Ford EcoSport Storm 4WD launched in Brazil at approx Rs 20 lakhs

New Ford EcoSport Storm bears a bold front grille, with a prominent ‘STORM’ embossing, which gives it an aggressive look. The ‘STORM’ badging continues on the sides too with ‘STORM’ decals on the doors. The rugged looking SUV features 17-inch black alloys which make it look meaner. The black ORVMs give it a distinctive look, compared to the regular EcoSport which features body colored ORVMs.

It is available in four colour options – Brown, White, Grey and Black. Speaking about price, the Storm variant sits at the top of the lineup, and is priced from 99,990 Brazilian Real, which is about Rs 20.20 lakh as per today’s exchange rates.

Under the hood, one is a 2.0-litre Direct Flex engine which runs both on petrol & ethanol. Power output figures depend upon the choice of fuel, 170hp and 202Nm of torque on petrol, and 176hp and 221Nm of peak torque on ethanol. The motor is mated to an automatic transmission and the power flows out through a four-wheel-drive setup.

Compared to the standard EcoSport, the 4WD Storm variant is a much better equipped variant to handle bad terrains. The 4 wheel drive system on offer is claimed to be of latest generation, unlike anything else on offer in the segment currently.

In India, the latest face-lifted EcoSport was launched last November, with a starting price point of INR 7.31 lakhs. At the moment, there isn’t any confirmation if Ford will plan to launch the EcoSport Storm in India or it won’t. But, usually what has launched in Brazil, as far as EcoSport is concerned, has been launched in India as well. Which makes it quite possible for Ford to launch the car here.

Currently, Ford India is busy readying up a Figo based pseudo cross-over, the Ford Figo Cross, along with facelifts of Mustang, Aspire & Figo.
