The Ford EcoSport compact SUV comes to Europe at the 2013 Geneva motor show. This vehicle with multiple uses combines the agility, low fuel consumption and reasonable price of a small car with the flexibility and spaciousness of an SUV. It is available with a particularly frugal 3-cylinder petrol engine and an equally frugal diesel. It is this range of fuel-efficient powertrains, especially the direct fuel injection Ford 1.0-liter three-cylinder EcoBoost engine that adds to curiosity towards the vehicle. At the same time fuel efficiency is a focus.
This upcoming SUV will be seen as a highly technologically advanced vehicle and will regale audience at the Show with all it has to offer. Ford EcoSport is the second SUV being launched after Ford Kuga while sales will be initiated by the end of 2013. The next-generation Ford Edge too will be seen soon in Europe. This new compact SUV will possess Ford SYNC voice activated in-car connectivity system and Emergency Assistance Services. It will also possess new smartphone app technologies which will enable drivers to experience a higher level of safety and connectivity through their smartphones. Ford’s global B-segment platform now supports the Fiesta sedan, B-max wagon, and compact Ford EcoSport SUV.
The Emergency Assistance feature connects the vehicle occupants to an emergency service in the vicinity which is activated immediately in the event of an accident. The system uses the correct terminology and local language of the region while offering precise location details with the use of the on board GPS system. This enables emergency services to pin point the victim and there is no loss of time in ensuring immediate action in case of such situations. The EcoSport also comes with Electronic Stability Program and Hill Launch Assist. Ford EcoSport is fitted with a 1.0 liter EcoBoost engine offering 123 bhp, a 1.5 liter petrol engine offering 108 bhp and a 1.5 liter diesel engine offering 89 bhp all of which deliver a high level of fuel economy. Ford EcoSport compact SUV sales in India and Europe are to commence in 2013.
