The promo video highlights the car’s off-road prowess.

The new Ford Endeavour will be here in a few week’s time and the company has released a teaser video in a build up to the launch. Reported to be launched on January 19, the new gen 7-seat ladder frame SUV promises to be much better than its obsolete predecessor in each and every aspect.

Based on the Ford Ranger pickup truck platform, the new Endeavour sports a bold design that would go unmissed on the road. The imposing stance combined with upmarket and modern interior makes the Endy a worthy challenger to the Indian premium SUV crown which is currently being held by the Toyota Fortuner.

The India-spec SUV will be imported into India as CKD kits from Thailand and assembled at Ford India’s Chennai plant. Powertrain options include two diesel motors displacing 2.2- and 3.2-litre. The base motor which produces 160 PS and 385 Nm of torque can be had either with a 6-speed MT (4×2 or 4×4) or AT (only 4×4) whereas the bigger mill which is good for 200 PS and 470 Nm of torque is available only with the automatic transmission in 4×4 configuration.

The Endeavour’s USP would be its equipment package which will include 7-airbags, ABS with EBD, ESP, TC, Hill launch assist, HDC, Ford MyKey, power adjustable driver seat, projector headlamps, leather seats, TPMS, automatic headlamps and wipers, and so on.

We expect the new Ford Endeavour to have a starting price of around INR 25 lakhs (ex-showroom).
