The new Ford Escort Concept at the Auto Shanghai 2013 Show carries all the modern design language. This vehicle has been specially designed to cater to the requirements of a certain segment of Chinese buyers who are on the lookout for a more spacious family car.
Ford Escort Concept is roomy, comfortable and offers additional head and leg room thus giving car buyers in China exactly what they desire. External features of the Escort Concept include an upright grille and elongated and bejeweled headlamps. These have been designed to look like the figure ‘8’ which is considered lucky among the Chinese.
Ford has major plans ahead for the Chinese markets where there is increased demand for luxury vehicles. The company will be introducing 15 new vehicles in China by 2015. Seven new plants in Asia Pacific are being planned out of which five will be in China and will have the capacity to produce 2.7 million vehicles per annum in the region.
The unveiling of Escort Concept comes soon after the introduction of Mondeo 1.5L EcoBoost, EcoSport 1.0L EcoBoost and Kuga. Ford has also announced its intentions to expand their dealer base in China and will be enhancing their supply chain in the coming two years.
