Ford Fiesta PowerShift Automatic for Indian auto market: What Rs. 899,000 means
The new Ford Fiesta PowerShift Automatic launched in the Indian auto market sees the company forging ahead in automatic variants, which are gaining in popularity. Honda, Volkswagen and Hyundai have already launched Automatic gearbox versions and now it is the turn of Ford to enter the fray. With the launch of Ford Fiesta Automatic, the company has concentrated wholeheartedly on its aesthetics and the new PowerShift automatic transmission.
Fiesta interiors are seen with auto AC, chrome finishes, leather on steering wheel while the top end Titanium+ has leather seats, Bluetooth voice control, alloy wheels, cruise control and parking sensors and auto fold mirrors. Ford has also included the dual clutch PowerShift automatic gearbox, a technology patented exclusively for Ford Fiesta. Ford Fiesta PowerShift Automatic is designed to work maintenance free for a period of 10 years or 2,40,000 kms whichever is earlier and this helps in reducing the maintenance cost for Fiesta as even transmission oil does not need to be changed during that period.
The gearbox offers 250 Nm torque and due to its new light weight design at 73 kgs only it is smoother and more efficient. Powered by a 1.5 liter Ti-VCT and 1.5 liter Duratorq TDCi specially built for Indian users the Fiesta offers excellent handling conditions both within the city and on the highway. Fuel efficiency is at its zenith. The car offers 16.97 km per liter making it one of the most efficient automatic sedans in its segment.
Another first in its segment is the Voice control feature which permits hands free controls for mobile phone, radio, CD player, USB drive, iPod and temperature controls. Safety is not compromised by any stretch of imagination. The Ford Fiesta has the ability to grip the road and is fitted with standard airbags both in driver and passenger areas for both models Style and Titanium+.
