Once a car or bike is successfully launched in India, auto manufacturers start looking for options to export the same to neighbouring countries. Within a few months time, the product is launched in almost all important markets, where there is a demand for such a product. Surprisingly, Ford India is all set to launch the Figo Aspire in India, as well in Nepal – in the same month.
This will be possible because production of the new Figo Aspire had commenced at Ford India’s new plant in Sanand from March 2015. With a production capacity of 2.4 lakh cars annually, the company would have a considerably huge inventory by now. This will be enough to meet the demand for Figo Aspire, in domestic as well as export markets.
Ford Figo Aspire bookings are now open in Nepal. It will be imported as a CBU from India. Image shows the car has already arrived at a dealer in Nepal before launch later this month.
Ford Figo Aspire is the company’s first sub 4 meter sedan. It will measure 3,995 mm in length, 1,695 mm in width and 1,525 mm in height. It has a wheelbase of 2,491 mm, and 174 mm of ground clearance. This makes Figo Aspire perfectly suited to satisfy needs of car buyers in India, and countries like Nepal.
Borrowing some design aspects from the Ford EcoSport, Figo Aspire sedan will see a host of onboard equipment that includes segment first SYNC infotainment system, Ford MyKey, Bluetooth hands free and automatic climate controls.
Ford Figo Aspire comes with Smart technologies like Ford MyKey, MyFord Dock, SYNC with Applink, Automatic Climate Control, Power-fold Mirrors and Electric Power Assisted Steering (EPAS). A host of safety features will also be offered on the new Ford Figo Aspire such as dual front airbags, while top end Titanium+ variant will receive 6 airbags, ABS and EBD while ESP, Perimeter Alarm and Hill Launch Assist will also be included among safety features.
The sub 4 meter Ford Figo Aspire will be powered by both petrol and diesel engine options that include a 1.2 liter Ti-VCT petrol engine offering 88 hp peak power and 112 Nm peak torque and 1.5 liter Ti-VCT offering 112 PS power and 136 Nm torque. The 1.5 liter Duratorq diesel engine develops 100 ps peak power and 215 Nm peak torque. The 1.2 liter petrol and 1.5 liter diesel engine will be mated to a 5 speed manual gearbox while the 1.5 liter petrol will also receive a 6 speed PowerShift dual clutch automatic gearbox.
Interiors of the new Ford Figo Aspire are spacious while adjustable headrests offer added comfort and support. Boot space is amble with special compartments in the door and floor. The compact sedan will compete with Honda Amaze, Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Hyundai Xcent and Tata Zest and is slated to come in a price range from INR 5.5-9 lakhs.
