Ford India has already begun marketing and promotions for the launch, with Bollywood star Farhan Akhtar as its brand ambassador. Continuing further, they have now put Figo Aspire on display across major shopping malls with highest footfalls in major Indian cities. (Ford applied the same marketing strategy with EcoSport). This way, Ford gives car buyers a chance to experience their new compact sedan before official launch.
New Ford Figo Aspire is a compact sedan set to take on Maruti Dzire, Tata Zest, Honda Amaze and Hyundai Xcent once officially launched in the country. It will be offered in a choice of petrol and diesel engine options. Petrol engine will be a new 1.2 liter TI-VCT petrol engine mated to a 5 speed manual gearbox, while diesel engine will be in the form of 1.5l TDCi mated to a 5 speed manual gearbox. There will also be a automatic 6 speed dual clutch gearbox on offer, but only with petrol 1.2l variant.
Ford has not revealed power output figures of these engines, but they did say that they deliver superior power and torque with impressive fuel economy and less CO2 emissions.
Interiors of Ford Figo Aspire top end Titanium diesel variant (the one in the images here) was seen with a host of features in tune with those on both Ford EcoSport and Fiesta. A dual toned dashboard installed with SYNC multimedia system, buttons, steering wheel and door handles all mimicked those from the EcoSport, auto AC, auto folding ORVMs, reversing sensors with camera, rain sensing wipers and auto dimming interior mirror. ABS, EBD, Electronic Stability Programme, Hill Launch Assist and six airbags are its safety features.
Externally, the new Ford Figo Aspire boasts of an aerodynamic design. It is compact in stance and set to appeal to the customer looking to upgrade from a hatchback. Ideally suited as a family car, Ford Figo Aspire will be produced from the company’s new facility in Sanand, Gujarat and will launch at an expected price rang of INR 5.5 to 8 lakhs.
