Ford Figo (Ka) hatchback launch price in Brazil 35,390 BRL

India bound Ford Figo hatchback was officially launched in Brazil at a starting price of 35,390 BRL, which as per today’s currency conversion rates, is about Rs 9.5 lakhs. Called Ford Ka in Brazil, the hatchback is launched with only one engine option, which can run on both petrol and ethanol.

Ford Figo (Ka) hatchback frontOffered in just two trims – SE and SEL, the new Ford Figo offers more space on the inside as compared to the outgoing variant. Priced at 35,390 BRL (Rs 9.5 lakhs) for the base SE variant and 39,990 BRL (Rs 10.8 lakhs) for SEL top-end variant.

Engine option is in the form of 1.0l turbocharged petrol three cylinder engine (not EcoBoost), generating max power of 85 hp and peak torque of 107 Nm. The engine is mated to a 5 speed manual transmission, which delivers power to the front wheels. As of now, this is the only engine on offer, and a more powerful 1.5l engine is expected to be launched at a later date.

Ford Figo (Ka) hatchback rearFeatures on board new Ford Ka hatchback will be in the form of central screen, SYNC, three spoke steering wheel with controls, and silver inserts on dash. Apart from this, base variant gets central locking, air condition, power windows (only front), adjustable steering (telescopic), music system, Buetooth, USB, and central locking with remote flip key. For topend SEL variant, on offer are seat height adjustable (driver), 15 inch alloys, theft alarm system, ESC, and trip computer.

Ford Figo (Ka) hatchback steering wheelFor India, Ford will start manufacturing new Figo hatchback and sedan at their plant in Sanad, Gujarat from April 2015. Not only Ford India will produce the cars for local sales, they will also export to other markets. Once launched, Ford Figo hatchback will compete with the likes of Maruti Swift, Volkswagen Polo, Fiat Punto, Hyundai Grand i10, etc. Price in India is expected to be in the Rs 5-8 lakh segment. Both petrol and diesel variants will be on offer.
