Ford aims to export Figo hatchback to 51 countries by 2012 end


Back in 2010, Figo hatchback was introduced specially for car markets in India and other developing countries. Over the last two years, Ford Figo has achieved phenomenal success in India and the other 32 countries where it is exported to from FOrd’s Chennai manufacturing facility.

Ford is well aware that the demand for small compact cars is going to rise further in the future. Ford India has done exceedingly well with sales of its Figo in India. Ford aims at making Figo available in more than 50 countries by end of this year. With expansion plans underway, Ford India is planning on exporting Figo to 18 new countries by end of 2012.

In India Ford has a huge manufacturing facility in Chennai where its entire lineup of cars for the Indian automobile market is produced. To further establish its dominance in the Indian market Ford is planning on setting up a manufacturing plant in Gujarat. Ford India has revealed that it plans to export Figo to countries in South America, North Africa and Caribbean Islands.
