Of the 14,215 units sold, Ford India sold 4,931 units in the domestic market, and 9,284 units in the export markets. This when compared to their sales report from April 2014, exports increased 39.7%, while domestic sales declined by 25.4%.
Speaking of their domestic performance last month, Anurag Mehrotra, Executive Director Marketing, Sales and Service at Ford India said that the company is hoping for a better performance in the domestic market by the end of this year. Q4 2015 is what Ford India is aiming at. The reason being, it is in this period they will have both their new entry level cars – Figo hatchback and Figo Aspire sedan.
Both to be manufactured at their new Sanand plant, which began production in March 2015, of the two it will be the Figo Aspire sedan which will be launched first, mostly in June 2015. After this, Q3 will see the launch of Figo hatchback. Apart from these two entry level cars, Ford will also launch the new Endeavour by Diwali festive season. This will give Ford India a good run in the Q4 of this year.
As for current situation, Ford India says that the market is still volatile and is unlikely to get a boost. This is due to weak monsoon, volatile market condition, high interest rates and many such reasons are keeping buyers away.
