Ford India gears up plant and car launch in 2015

India is a key market in Ford Motor Company’s Asia Pacific strategy. Ford’s commitment to India sees an investment of $2 billion, about half of which is was set aside for its a new manufacturing facility in Sanand, Gujarat. Ford’s new plant almost doubles its installed production capacity in India to 610,000 engines and 440,000 vehicles a year.

Ford India plans robust vehicle introduction over the next 18 – 20 months in bringing the best to Indian customers. New Ford Figo hatchback and sedan for India is similar to Ka hatchback and Ka+ sedan launched in Brazil in 2014. To be launched in 2015 here, production will commence at Ford India Sanand plant. Ford in India could also be looking to introduce next-gen Endeavour/Everest SUV with improved off-roading capability, revised interiors and new tech.

2015 will also see Ford Credit India begin operations having been granted a license by the Reserve Bank of India to operate as a nonbanking financial company. Dealer wholesale inventory financing will be begin in Q1 2015 to support the next phase of vehicle introduction within the next 2 years.
