Set for launch in Q2 2016, six units of new Ford Mustang have been imported into India.

Ford showcased the new Mustang in India back in January and at the 2016 Auto Expo. The iconic sportscar now gears up for its launch in India. The three units of Ford Mustang spied at Ford India Sanand Plant in Gujarat confirm launch plans to be on track.

India is expected to receive only the 2016 Ford Mustang GT coupe which will be powered by a 5.0 liter V8 engine capable of 435 hp peak power and 542 Nm peak torque. While this engine in international markets will be mated to a 6-speed manual transmission, in India the engine gets a 6 speed SelectShift automatic transmission.

To be imported into the country as a CBU, pricing is set at well over the INR 50 lakh mark. 2016 Ford Mustang GT in US markets is priced at US$32,395 (INR 21,56,938) in the US. Surprisingly, the listed price of import into India is even lower than the US MSRP. It stands at a little over INR 15 lakh.

19” wheels, 6 piston front brake calipers, LED tail lamps, rear spoiler, strut bar and front splitter are part of the new Ford Mustang features which also include SYNC 2 connectivity system with navigation, push button start, keyless entry and rear camera.
