The new Genesis G90 luxury sedan, the first product under Hyundai’s new premium stand-alone brand, has been spied without any camouflage in Spain. It’s was reported to be shooting for promotional video in the country.
To make its world premiere in South Korea early next month under the EQ900 moniker, the new flagship saloon will replace the Hyundai Equus. The G90 follows a brand new design language which was first previewed by the Hyundai Vision G Coupe Concept earlier this year.
The car sports a prominent hexagonal chrome grille which is flanked by dynamic peeled back headlamps. The winged Genesis logo sits atop the grill on the bonnet while the bumper houses daytime LED daytime running lights. The profile is that of a limousine with a long wheelbase and understated sheet metal design. The think C-Pillar has a hint of Bentley’s design trait.
The interior is not revealed yet but expect it to derive its inspiration from the Vision G Coupe Concept. Given the generous wheelbase, one can safely expect a very spacious rear seat. Hyundai had earlier announced that the car will be packed with luxury and comfort features.
Powertrain details are not revealed yet but expect Hyundai to retain the existing 3.8-litre naturally aspirated V6, 5.0-litre V8 and new 3.3-litre turbocharged V6 petrol motors. An automatic transmission would be standard.
The Genesis G90 will first be launched in South Korea, China, North America and Middle East. Europe and other Asian markets would be covered eventually. We expect Hyundai India to introduce the Genesis sub-brand here in a few years’ time.
