Genesis G90 from Hyundai debuts at 2016 NAIAS (Photos)

Hyundai’s Genesis G90 is being presented at the 2016 Detroit Motor Show, marking the car’s first public debut. An ultra luxurious offering from Hyundai, it will take on the likes of Mercedes Benz S-Class. G90 is the first of 6 other cars being planned under the Genesis brand by the company in 2020. These will also include the G80 small executive sedan and G70 sports sedan.

Genesis G90 will be offered in a choice of two petrol engine options to include a 3.3 liter twin turbocharged V6 offering 365 hp power and a 5.0 liter V8 engine capable of 420 hp peak power and 376 lb/ft torque. Acceleration from 0 to 100 kmph is achieved in 5.7 seconds which is just a second slower than the Mercedes Benz S500. Both these engine options are mated to an advanced H-TRAC AWD system allowing drivers to steer the vehicle confidently even in adverse weather conditions.

Hyundai Genesis G90 has been conferred a 5 star safety rating by NHTSA while it is a Top Safety Pick+ by IIHS. On board safety equipment includes Automatic Emergency Braking, Pedestrian Detection, Smart Blind Spot Detection, Lane Keep Assist, Rear Cross-traffic Alert, Driver Attention Alert, Dynamic Bending Light headlights with High Beam Assist. It also features a 360 degree Multi View Mirror and 9.7” Heads Up Display with enhanced illumination.

In terms of comforts, Hyundai Genesis S90 knows no bounds. In its bid to compete against the likes of 7 Series, S-Class and A8, G90 comes loaded with features. Highlights include – 22 way electronically controlled driver seat with power bolsters, cushion extensions besides shoulder adjustments. Passenger seats are fitted with 16 way adjustments while all seat offer slide and recline function with lumbar support. 12.3” high definition display, 9.2” dual rear monitors that can be controlled from the rear seat Driver Information System and Lexicon Premium Sound System with QuantumLogic Surround sound with 17 speakers and 10” subwoofers are seen in the interiors.

Special Noise Vibration and Harshness reducing materials are seen throughout the interiors with use of special sound absorbing materials. Sitting on 19” allow wheels, exteriors of the Genesis G90 receives a crest grille, full LED headlamps and Daytime Running Lights. Set to be offered in a choice of 5 exterior colors, these include Casablanca White and Caspian Black, to Manhattan Brown, Santiago Silver and London Gray.
