Boss gifts 1,260 Maruti, Datsun cars as Diwali bonus to employees

Savjibhai Dholakia, a Surat businessman, owner of Hare Krishna Exporters has presented 400 flats and 1,260 cars to his employees as Diwali gifts. He has broken his own record when last year he had given out 455 cars and 200 flats to his employees. Last year he had gifted Fiat Grande Punto vehicles while this year he has gifted Maruti Alto 800 and Datsun Redi-Go to his employees.

On Tuesday, Dholakia announced these bonuses at an informal meeting of employees. It was in recognition of outstanding performance and dedication that these gifts were announced while it is Dholakia’s aim that each employee should have his own house and car over the next five years.


Sanjiv Dholakia, owner of Hare Krishna Exports is a self made man. He is fondly known as Sanjivkaka and his story is a typical example of a man who has made millions due to his own hard work and astute business acumen. He hails from Dudhala village in Amreli district and arrived in Surat in 1977 with just INR 12.50 in his pocket as his bus fare.

He took a loan from his uncle to start his business and today, Hare Krishna Exports has its manufacturing unit in Surat and sales office in Mumbai. The company exports diamonds to over 50 countries across the globe.

The 400 employees received houses and will make no down payments while Hare Krishna Exports will pay EMIs of INR 5,000 for each of these flats over a period of 5 years. 1,260 cars were also presented to the staff while 56 employees received jewellery boxes.
