Harley Davidson Street owners, keen to upgrade to the 2018 Softail series on sale in India, will find this new offer very exciting. The company is offering a 100% buyback on Street 750 or Street Rod which is less than 1 year old and upto 75% buyback on ex-showroom price if the bikes are between 12-24 months old.
Harley Davidson offers 6 Softail models in India. The Street Bob, in a raw bobber design, is priced at Rs 12.59 lakhs. Low Rider, which follows a design from the 70s Low Rider is priced at Rs 13.59 lakhs while Fat Bob in an angry boy design gets a price tag of Rs 14.59 lakhs.
Fat Boy, with a 240 section rear tyre and a more capable Mikwaukee-Eight 114 engine carries a price of Rs 18.11 lakhs. Deluxe, with a design reminiscent of the 1950s is priced at Rs 18.65 lakhs while the most exclusive Softail is Heritage Classic, which receives cruise control and a detachable windscreen is priced at Rs 19.71 lakhs. All prices are ex-showroom.
This initiative from Harley Davidson will allow owners of the entry level models to upgrade to newer and more refined models in the company lineup. Harley Davidson is also gearing up to introduce a new product range in the sub 500cc segment in India. These will include an adventure tourer and a Streetfighter.
Harley Davidson is also venturing into a range of electric bikes, though if these will be immediately launched in India is yet to be ascertained. Electric motorcycles were a part of the Harley Davidson Project LiveWire concept showcased in 2014.
Harley Davidson has also announced its ‘More Roads to Harley Davidson’ growth plan through 2022. The bikemaker plans launch of a new range of products that will include an adventure tourer, street naked, electric bike and a Flat Track Custom.
It is learnt that the company is also working on a range of 250cc-500cc bikes for India and other Asian markets as part of their future growth plans. This new single cylinder Harley’s will compete with the Royal Enfield 350 and the upcoming Bajaj-Triumph single cylinder motorcycle.
