A four year old girl was killed, her brother seriously injured when the Mercedes Benz S Class belonging to Hema Malini collided with an oncoming Maruti Alto. The accident occurred at around 9 pm on Thursday night in Dausa, about 60 kms from Jaipur. There were five others who too were injured, including Hema Malini.
The injured were identified as Hema Malini, 66, Seema, 40, Hanuman, 38, Shikha Devi, 35 and Somil, 5. Sonam, the daughter of Hanuman and Shikha died in the accident. Somil was admitted into the Sawai Man Singh hospital in Jaipur where he is said to be critical while the others are admitted in the Dausa district hospital with critical injuries to head and body parts.
Hema Malini has received facial lacerations and a fractured nose and is complaining of pain in the back but is conscious and able to walk. Tests are being carried out while a team of plastic surgeons, neurosurgeons and emergency specialists are attending to her and tests are being conducted to ascertain if there are any internal injuries.
Following the accident, a few locals tried to block the highway but were averted by local police even as both vehicles have been seized. A case has been lodged, while Hema Malini’s driver who has been identified as Mahesh Thakur, 35, a native of Vrindavan, has been arrested and booked under 304 – A of IPC which is a bailable offence. The family in the Maruti Alto was on their way to Lalsot town in Dausa district while Hema Malini was travelling from Agra to Jaipur.
