Shiven Sharma of Hero Action Team won gold in ‘under-19’ mass start race and silver in ‘under-19’ time trial competition. Devendra Thakur finished fifth in ‘Elite’ men category.
National Mountain Biking Race is organised by Cycling Federation of India. Pankaj Munjal, Co-Chairman and Managing Director of Hero Cycles congratulated team members. The win takes Hero Action Team reassures the team of hard work put in by cyclists and team support staff to yield results. The future looks promising for the young cyclists. Hero Action Team uses UT bikes in cycling competitions.
Ashish Sood, Manager of Hero Action Team says the team represented Himachal Pradesh at the national event, and looks forward to winning more titles in the near future. Reps from 13 states participated: Himachal Pradesh, Kerala, Haryana, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Uttaranchal, Delhi and J&K among others. Racing comprised mass start and time trial segments in ‘under-19’ and ‘Elite’ categories. There were 12 laps for Elite men, 10 laps for Elite women and 9 laps for under-19 category. Shiven Sharma first won his ‘Under-19’ mass start, and then completed the time trial race in 1 hour 3 minutes and 48 seconds to finish second in the race.
Hero Action Team members Ankush Arya, Devendra Thakur, Gurman Reen, Sanchit Sood and Shiven Sharma participated as individuals in the event. Hero Action Team is sponsored by Hero Cycles, and mentored by HASTPA (Himalyan Adventure Sports and Tourism Promotion Association).
