You might have heard of radar-based ADAS technology for cars with a host of autonomous driving features which significantly increase vehicular safety quotients. Similar technology are now being introduced to 2W vehicles as ARAS (Advanced Rider Assistance Systems) which we recently saw with Ultraviolette X-47.
Now, Hero MotoCorp, India’s largest 2W manufacturer, is stepping into this arena with a strategic partnership with the French company Valeo. Together, both brands have co-developed radar-based ARAS technology for motorcycles and scooters. A few proof-of-concepts by Hero and Valeo were showcased at CES 2026 in Las Vegas, USA.
Hero ARAS Features
In the recent past, Hero MotoCorp seems to be taking great strides in bringing premium technology for motorcycles and scooters to the masses. In that regard, we saw Hero offering cruise control features with a 125cc budget commuter like Glamour X. Previously, cruise control was only reserved for premium motorcycles.
Similarly, Hero MotoCorp is now investing into vehicular safety tech like radar-based ARAS suite with a strategic partnership with Valeo, a French automotive technology supplier. Valeo’s radar tech and smart cameras will create a 360-degree safety envelope around motorcycles and scooters on which these systems are equipped.

This 360-degree safety envelope will unlock a host of Advanced Rider Assistance Systems (ARAS) which will help riders. These features will include forward collision warning, reverse collision warning, distance warning, blind-spot detection and warning, lane change warning and assist, among others.
More advanced ARAS features include camera-based pedestrian detection and alerts and even traffic sign detection. According to Valeo, these systems and features come with great accuracy even in low light conditions. A few proof-of-concepts have been created out of this partnership and were also showcased at CES 2026 in Las Vegas, USA.
What to expect?
Coming from the industry leader like Hero MotoCorp, one can expect that these ARAS features could be offered across premium Hero and Vida offerings. Even the Harley-Davidson branded vehicles spawned out of the partnership with Hero may get these ARAS features as well.
With ARAS, Hero MotoCorp will step into a new era of vehicular safety and the industry might follow sooner or later. Hero MotoCorp is known to trickle down technology from premium vehicles to affordable ones too.
