Showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo earlier this year, Hero Duet 125 is now gearing up for launch in India, by September. At an official event today, Hero MotoCorp revealed the production spec Duet 125, which has been christened as Destini 125.
Hero Destini 125 is positioned as a premium family scooter. It is fitted with Hero i3S – Idle Start Stop System offering better fuel efficiency, which is similar to Honda’s Combi-Brake System. The scooter will essentially take on the new Honda Activa, Suzuki Burgman 125, and the likes.
Hero Destini 125 gets a more contemporary design. It is seen with an external fuel cap, telescopic front forks and boot light along with a mobile charging port. At the Auto Expo, Hero had revealed that it will be offered with an all metal body and four color schemes of Noble Red, Chestnut Bronze, Panther Black, and Pearl Silver White.
In terms of features, it gets semi digital instrument cluster, dual tone mirrors, integrated braking system, tubeless tyres and boot light. It gets 10 inch wheels at the front and rear. Combi brake is on offer. Disc brake is not on offer.
Hero Destini will be powered by a 125 cc engine offering 8.7 bhp power at 6,750 rpm and 10.2 Nm torque at 5,000 rpm mated to a CVT. Prices should be around Rs 52,000. In terms of competition in the 125cc segment, Hero Duet 125 will compete with Honda Activa 125, Suzuki Access 125 and Vespa LX 125.
Another scooter which Hero showcased at the Auto Expo was the Maestro Edge. Hero Maestro Edge 125 is the sportier of the two bikes. It gets sporty accents on its body with fiber body panels and will be offered in color options of Matte Techno Blue, Matte Red, Matte Brown and Matte Vernier Grey.
Engine too is same. Mechanical differences lie with the Duet 125 sitting on 10” front wheel while the Maestro Edge 125 gets 12” front wheel. Both get 10” rear wheels. Optional front disc brake and remote key opening is also only seen on the Maestro Edge 125, but not on Destini 125.
