Hero Destini scooter launch on 22nd October – Rivals Honda Activa 125

Showcased as the Duet 125 scooter at the 2018 Auto Expo earlier this year, the new 125cc scooter from Hero MotoCorp gets named the Destini 125. Hero’s new 125cc scooter to hit the Indian two wheeler market and with officially launch in India on 22nd October 2018, the Destini 125 will find many competitors in its class, including the best seller Honda Activa.

Hero Destini 125 is designed at the company’s Centre of Innovation and Technology (CIT) in Jaipur and is based on the smaller Duet 110cc offering. It is being marketed as a family oriented scooter rather than targeting younger buyers and hence gets a simple design with softer lines and curves.

The new Destini 125 gets cosmetic updates giving it a more premium stance. The front apron gets chrome accents and a curvier body panel while other features include an optional disc brake, integrated braking system, side stand indicator and service reminder.

It gets exterior fuel filling capacity and will be the first scooter from Hero MotoCorp with idle-start-stop-system – i3S. Other on-board features include a semi digital instrument console, boot lamp, remote key and a mobile charging point. Hero Destini 125 will be presented in five color options of red, brown, black, silver and white.

Hero Destini 125 measures 1,809mm in length, 1,154mm in width and 729mm in height. It gets a wheelbase of 1,245mm and ground clearance of 155mm while kerb weight is at 111.5 kgs. The single cylinder, air cooled engine on the new Hero Destini 125 is tweaked for better low end power. It produces 8.7 bhp power at 6,750 rpm and 10.2 Nm torque at 5,000 rpm.

The engine allows for a top speed of 85 kmph. Once officially launched in India, it will compete against the Honda Grazia, Suzuki Access 125, Honda Activa 125 along with the TVS NTorq 125, Vespa VX and Aprilia SR 125. Prices are expected to be in the region of Rs 60,000.
