BEGINS THE GLOBAL FORAY OF BRAND “HERO” WITH LAUNCHES IN SRI LANKA & NEPAL DURING THE MONTH
COMPLETES THE BRAND MIGRATION TO “HERO” ON THE ENTIRE PRODUCT RANGE IN SEPTEMBER
New Delhi, October 01, 2012: Hero MotoCorp Ltd (HMCL), the world’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer, sold 4,04,787 units of two-wheelers in the month of September 2012. HMCL had sold 5,49,625 units in the corresponding month last year.
September was an action-packed month for HMCL, when the company embarked on a new global journey by launching brand “Hero” and its range of two-wheelers in two neighboring countries – Sri Lanka and Nepal. The ABANS Group and NGM have been appointed by HMCL to market its two-wheelers in Sri Lanka and Nepal respectively.
Hero MotoCorp has also completed the process of brand migration of its models from the erstwhile joint brand to the new “Hero” brand. The company’s entire product range now sports the new “Hero” brand. HMCL is also making all-round investments in all the new launches – Maestro, Ignitor and Impulse – in terms of augmenting production capacity, investing in communication and running on-ground activation.
The month of September also saw Hero MotoCorp forming yet another global alliance – with renowned Italian two-wheeler design firm “Engines Engineering”. The new partner would impart technological know-how in terms of superior designing for the future products to be launched by HMCL. This tie-up comes close on the heels of HMCL’s two strategic alliances forged earlier this year – one with the US-based Erik Buell Racing (EBR) for cutting-edge technology and the other with Austria-based AVL to build its internal capabilities for engine development.
