The company is also reportedly mulling a technical centre in Europe.

Hero Motocorp is spending big on setting up comprehensive R&D operations even as it engages third parties for product development post the split from Honda. One major step is the upcoming R&D facility near Jaipur and hiring of Markus Braunsperger, a 25-year BMW veteran, as head of technology.

That’s not all. In a bid to strengthen its R&D capabilities, Hero Motocorp has been hiring more top engineers and designers from MNC OEMs like Honda, Yamaha and BMW. The company recently poached Ulrich Dumm to head the chassis development. Mr. Dumm has over 30 years experience at BMW.

Responsibility of developing new engines is given to Markus Feichtner who has over 15 years experience with engine specialist AVL of Austria. The new head of styling, Hiroyuki Miyo, comes with a rich experience from Honda. Mitsuo Kitada, head of vehicle integration, is an expert from Yamaha.

The company would continue to hire highly experienced expats to get its nascent R&D operations up and running. Times Of India also reports that a European technical centre is also on the cards. Talking to the publication, Pawan Munjal, chairman, Hero Motocorp, stated, “Talent has a price, and we are ready to pay that”.
