Hero MotoCorp May 2019 sales decline 7.69 percent

Hero is celebrating 25th anniversary of Splendor with a Special Edition.

In May 2019, Hero MotoCorp launched three new motorcycles of XPulse 200, XPulse 200T and Xtreme 200S and two scooters – Maestro Edge 125 and Pleasure+ 110. Despite of this, the company failed to register a growth in sales figures. Hero MotoCorp sold 6.52 lakh units in May 2019, which is a decline by 7.69 percent as compared to sales in May 2018 during which month a total of 7,06,365 units were sold.

But, the performance is not as bad as it was in April 2019. Comparatively, Hero’s sales performance in May 2019 is much better. This is the first time since February 2019 that the company has seen sales past the 6 lakh unit mark.

In April 2019 sales stood at 5,74,366 units and though sales for May 2019 are lower as compared to sales in May 2018, it is up 13.52 percent as compared to sales in April 2019 by 13.52 percent. In April 2019, the Hero Splendor contributed to efficient sales with 2,23,532 units sold, overtaking Honda Activa sales by 13,000 units as it stood at 2,10,961 units. For the month of May 2019, sales of Splendor have not been revealed yet.

Hero Xtreme 200S

In May 2019, Hero MotoCorp brought in several motorcycles and scooters into the Indian two wheeler segment. The two scooters which included the Maestro Edge 125 and the Pleasure+ 110 starting at Rs 58,500 and Rs 47,300. These scooters are offered with features such as USB charger, LED boot lamp, rear tail lamp, front pockets and digital analog dashboard.

Hero Pleasure+110 is a more powerful version of the Pleasure 102cc and appeals to both sexes in terms of design. Pleasure+ 110 gets a retro theme while the Hero Maestro Edge is the country’s first fuel injected scooter. It is also the most expensive scooter on sale by Hero today.

Motorcycles such as the XPulse 200, the XPulse 200T and the Xtreme 200S also made their entry into the two wheeler segment last month. The XPulse 200 is an off road adventure bike while the XPulse 200T is more on-road oriented. Hero XPulse 200 and 200T are both powered by the same 200 cc, single cylinder, air cooled engine which powers the Xtreme 200R. This engine offers 18.4 bhp power and 17.1 Nm torque with the engine on all three bikes mated to a 5 speed gearbox. The XPulse 200 is priced at Rs.97,000 while the 200T is priced at Rs.94,000 and the Xtreme 200S gets a price tag of Rs.98,500
