Hero Electric has also inaugurated its new corporate office in Bangalore. This is part of expansion plan in south of India. Along with operational diversity, the move gives the company a new touchpoint in the country. Hero Electric has planned to expand from 615 touchpoints to 1,000 by 2020 end. This would let them reach new customers even in remote markets.
Hero Electric’s investment outline includes production ramp-up over the next 3-years. This would increase production capacity of electric scooters to 5 lakh units annually. Following the launch of Nyx ER, Hero will introduce heavy duty products to cater to varying customer riding needs and requirements in the B2B sector. This will allow the company to expand its electric bike product portfolio to include the commercial segment.
Hero, prides itself as the largest maker of electric vehicles in India. A title that could serve the company well in years to come. Currently, the country is pushing for faster adoption of electric vehicles and this could work to a certain degree owing to subsidies it brings along. India is pushing towards higher use of electric vehicles, and at present this opportunity for the larger public is limited to electric scooters for the most part.
Speaking about the two new scooters, Optima ER is a bit more affordable as compared to the NYX ER. Surprisingly, it is the lower priced Optima ER which gets more features, as well as a higher drive range. Features on offer with Optima ER includes Digital Speedo, Telescopic front suspension, Regenerative braking, LED bulb, anti theft system, mobile charging, etc.
Both Hero electric scooters get top speed of 42 kmph. Drive range of Optima ER is 110 kms while that of NYX ER is 100 kms. Both have the same battery capacity rating. 0-20 kmph is achieved in 8 seconds. Kerb wt of Optima ER is 83 kgs while that of NYX ER is 87 kgs. Both scooters come with 3 years warranty (battery + scooter).
