Hero posts highest ever sales in Oct 2013: Bajaj slips 4%

Hero MotoCorp has reported an 18.17% increase in total sales during the month wherein a total of 6,25,420 units were sold as compared to sales during October 2012 when the company had sold 5,29,215 units. These sales were due to increased demand for both Splendor and Passion besides other new products while the company has recently introduced a five year warranty which has attracted more buyers to the brand.

Production had to be stepped up to meet this increased demand even as the company gets set to introduce a total of 15 new/upgraded products in the months ahead which will be seen with new features and novel innovations. Hero MotoCorp has filed for patents and has announced that its upcoming models will be seen with i3S Technology – Idle Stop and Start System which will be seen on board the new Splendor iSmart while Integrated Braking System will be introduced on the new Pleasure while the new 150cc Xtreme will sport Electronic Immobilizer. The company will also be offering refreshes on their current models, all of which will make their presence felt in the months ahead.

Their rival, Bajaj Auto, who were once the No 1 two wheeler makers in the country, have reported a 4% decline in sales for the month of Oct 2013. Bajaj Auto, which only deals in motorcycles, sold 348,323 units in Oct 2013, compared to 361,186 units sold in Oct 2012.

Mr. Anil Dua, Sr. Vice-President (Marketing & Sales), HeroMotoCorp said, “Our October story has been about setting New Milestones. While we exceeded our best-ever despatch sales for any month by a huge margin, at the same time, our retail sales – which is a real barometer of customer response – has also set a new record. We have retailed over 6.5 lakh two-wheelers in the domestic market in the month of October, with a healthy double-digit growth month-on-month. This sales momentum has been helped by our star brands Splendor and Passion and also by the new products. Our recently-introduced five-year warranty and our brand campaigns have also created customer preference for the Hero two-wheelers.

“Our factories have been working to capacity to meet the added demand in this festive season. With Dhanteras and Diwali in November, we are prepared to maintain this retail momentum going forward. Thanks to an improved market sentiment and our 15 new offerings lined-up for a phase-wise launch in the coming months, we are planning to bring even more excitement to the marketplace. Our vast network of over 5500 touch points across the country, strong presence in the rural markets and above all, the trust of customers in us and our products have been the big differentiators for us,” he added.
