In what is one of the worst ever sales slowdown in history the automotive sector has ever seen, Hero MotoCorp has recorded the highest ever retail sales during the past festive season. These sales could be attributed their two motorcycles – Splendor and HF Deluxe.
Hero sold about 9 lakh units of these two motorcycles last month. This record retail sales has brought down inventory levels to 30 days while future dispatches are being planned in accordance with market demand.
The auspicious festive season of Diwali saw Hero MotoCorp, the largest two wheeler maker in the country, achieve retail sales of 12.84 lakh units in October 2019 marking the highest ever sales the company has ever experienced in its history.
Despite the increase in retail sales, there was a dip in wholesales. Total wholesales dipped 16.3 percent from to 5,99,248 as compared to 7,16,059 units sold in the same month of the previous year while sales in October 2019 were lower as compared to 6,24,215 units sold in September 2019.
Sales of scooters in the 125cc segment played a major part in amassing sales to the extent of 50,000 units. The markets which contributed to these excess figures were Uttar Pradesh and Chattisgarh where sales were 15 percent higher this festive season.
Pleasure Plus generated higher sales volumes in the scooter segment along with the Xpulse and Xtreme series in the 200cc motorcycle segment. Cash discounts and benefits offered by the company also played a major role in bring in better response from buyers in the country.
Not only did Hero MotoCorp experience record sales but another milestone was achieved by the company in the past month. The Hero MotoCorp plant in Haridwar saw production scale past the 2.5 crore mark. This milestone has been achieved in 11 years of operation. It is from this plant in Haridwar that Hero MotoCorp produces bikes such as Hero HF Deluxe i3S, Splendor+, Splendor iSmart 110, Passion Pro and Passion 110. This plant is capable of producing 9,500 vehicles every day.
The Haridwar facility is the world’s largest green roof spread over an area of 4,500 sq meters. It is noted for production of 1.95MW of solar power, zero liquid discharge and a lake for rain water harvesting. Apart from the Haridwar plant, Hero MotoCorp also has other facilities in India in Gurugram and Dharuhera in Haryana, Neemrana in Rajasthan and Halol in Gujarat also and one plant each in Bangladesh, and Colombia.
