Hero Xtreme 200S sport bike will be launched soon – Hero MotoCorp

The Hero Xtreme 200S was one of the many premium motorcycle exhibits displayed by the two wheeler giant at the 2016 Auto Expo earlier this year. The motorcycle concept was described by the company as a ‘showcase of directional guidance to future products in the premium category’.

At the time of Auto Expo, Hero MotoCorp did not confirm a launch timeline. Now, their Head for Global Product Strategy, Mr Malo Le Masson has confirmed that the new Xtreme 200S will be launched next in the premium motorcycle segment. Mr Masson says – “Xtreme200 Sport bike for those who like to race.”

At the time of Achiever 150 launch, Mr Pawan Munjal, Chairman & MD, Hero Group had stated that they will debut a new global motorcycle at the end of Dakar rally in January 2017. This more or less confirms that it is the Hero Xtreme 200S which will be unveiled by the company in January 2017.

The motorcycle will be positioned at the lower end of the booming compact sportsbike segment in India and will be pitted directly against the newly launched Apache RTR 200 4V.

The Xtreme 200S would be relying on its features list to make headway into a highly competitive segment. The equipment highlights of the bigger Xtreme includes monoshock rear suspension, LED lights, ABS, digital instrument console, tubeless tyres, disc brakes at both wheels, split seats and so on.

The design inspiration comes from the existing Xtreme 150 but the 200S is much more sportier and aggressive. The concept’s multi-color appeal is expected to be carried forward by the production model.

In addition to the Hero Xtreme 200S, the world’s largest two wheeler maker (by volume) is also working on 250 cc+ offerings which would help in gaining good traction in global markets. These are in the form of XF3R, HX250R and Hastur.
