Promising style and sportiness, the new 160cc bike will be launched by September 2014 in a segment which is dominated by the likes of Apache 160 and updated Yamaha’s FZ series. Apart from Honda, Suzuki also gears up for launch of their stylish Gixxer later this month in the same segment.
With launch of a new 160cc bike, HMSI wishes to reposition itself in the premium commuter segment which till date is only represented by CB Unicorn and CB Trigger in 149cc category. Set to push up company sales in India, the soon to be launched 160cc bike will come in with an attractive design with a host of on board technology while fuel efficiency will also be given some attention.
Besides this 160cc bike, HMSI also plans on launching a new 110 cc commuter bike that will be the lowest priced bike in Dream series while the company is investing INR 1,000 crores on a fourth plant in Gujarat. This new plant is expected to commence operations by FY16.
HMSI has ambitious plans in store as announced at the 13th annual business meet in Japan. The company is targeting sales of 45 lakh units in 2014-15, adding 1,000 new touch points to their network and will be increasing company outlets to 3,800 by the end of this financial year.
