Honda is undertaking a recall for four of its scooters and motorcycles. The voluntary recall has been announced for the Aviator (Disc), Activa 125 (Disc), Grazia (Disc), CB Shine (Self Disc) CBS variants.
Honda has identified a suspected quality issue in the ‘Front Brake Master Cylinder.’ This could cause difficulty in rotation of the front wheel that may result in wheel jam in extreme situation. The recall has been issued for CBS disc brake variants of all models affected. The CB Shine recall extends to its Self and Disc variants.
The recall is a pre-cautionary measure from Honda. The company will voluntarily inspect these models. HMSI will replace the suspected part, if required, on Free of Cost basis. There’s no warranty limitation on the service.
Customers are requested to make an advance booking at the service station for inspection. Customers can check if the vehicle comes under the service campaign. All affected two wheelers in this recall will be fixed for free, if found faulty upon inspection. Labour charge as well as parts will not be charged to customer in this recall.
The recall spans 50,034 units. With malfunctioning of the front-brake master cylinder at stake, customers are being contacted by dealerships. The effected vehicles were manufactured between February 4, 2019 – July 3, 2019. Currently Honda is working on upgrading its complete lineup with new BS VI emission norms coming into effect. The company showed off its new BS VI compliant Activa 125 which will go on sale from later this year.
2019 Honda Activa BS6 FI boast of a revised design and upgraded features. Apart from new engine, it will get telescopic forks in the front, digital console in the instrument panel, etc
It will be powered by an updated 125cc engine which will be more refined and more fuel efficient by around 10 percent. The fuel efficient BS6 engine of Honda Activa, makes it the first ever BS6 FI scooter of India. It will also see a marginally higher price as compared to its current model. Expect the Activa BS6 125 to be priced around Rs. 70,000.
While the Activa continues to be the brand’s bestseller, in recent times the industry is reeling under an ongoing slowdown. Honda Activa sales too have been affected in large numbers.
