Having updated the Mahindra Gusto 110 and 125 with the CBS feature, the Gusto now competes efficiently with the Honda Activa 5G and TVS Jupiter. We compare these three rivals in terms of design, dimensions, engine, performance and price.
Design – Though updated with CBS feature, the Mahindra Gusto 110 sees no change in design. It is offered in 6 color options and continues to sport industry first features with a unique front grille, front apron, height adjustable seat, guide lamp, find me lamps and remote flip key. It also receives a halogen headlamp, a large tail lamp, a generous amount of under seat storage and retractable hooks.
Honda Activa 5G, a popular scooter among buyers in India, gets a total of 8 colour options with two new colors of metallic red & metallic yellow. It also receives some high end features. It sports a new headlamp cluster, digital and analog instrument cluster with Eco Speed Indicator, LED headlamp, 14 liter under seat storage, and large and comfortable seating.
TVS Jupiter enters the automatic scooter segment. It comes in a wide range of colors of Midnight Black, Pristine White, Titanium Grey and Volcano Red, gets 17 liter under seat storage and an external fuel cap. It also receives a 4-in-1 lock with seat opening switch and the largest foot board in its segment at 375mm.
Dimensions – Mahindra Gusto 110 measures 1,825mm in length, 697mm in width and 1,188mm in height. Wheel base is at 1,275mm, as much as is seen in the case of the TVS Jupiter while ground clearance is at 165mm, the highest ground clearance among its competitors. Seat height is at 770mm which can be adjustable to 735mm while the Gusto sits on large 12” wheels.
Honda Activa 5G is shorter than the Gusto in length which stands at 1,761mm while width is more at 710mm and height is lower at 1,158mm. The Activa 5G also gets a shorter wheelbase as compared to both the Gusto and Jupiter at 1,238mm and ground clearance is at 153mm.
TVS Jupiter measures 1,834mm in length, 650mm in width and 1,115mm in height. It has the lowest ground clearance among its rivals but is the longest in terms of overall length. Wheelbase is at 1,238mm while ground clearance is at 153 mm with seat height at 765mm.
Engine – Mahindra Gusto 110 is powered by a 109cc, air cooled, M-Tec engine offering 8 bhp power at 7,500 rpm and 9 Nm torque at 5,500 rpm. It gets telescopic suspension in the front and spring load hydraulic at the rear while braking is via 130mm drum brakes at the front and rear.
Honda Activa 5G gets its power via a 109.9cc HET engine offering 8 PS power at 7,500 rpm and 9 Nm toque at 5,500 rpm. Suspension is via spring loaded hydraulic in the front and at the rear while braking is via 130mm drum at the front and rear.
The TVS Jupiter is also powered by a 110cc single cylinder air cooled engine capable of power of 8 bhp at 7500rpm and 8Nm at 5500 rpm. It gets telescopic suspension in the front and spring loaded hydraulic at the rear while it gets 130mm drum brakes at the front and rear.
Price – Mahindra Gusto 110 is offered in two variants is priced at Rs.50,996 for the base variant going up to Rs.55,660 for the VX variant making it the most affordable scooter among the trio. TVS Jupiter is also offered in two variants and is priced at 52,945 for the lower variant and at Rs.59,935 for the top end Classic Edition. Honda Activa 5G is priced the highest where its base variant is concerned at Rs.54,911 while the top end deluxe variant is priced at Rs.56,776.
