Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI), the country’s second largest two wheeler maker, has launched the first BS VI compliant two wheeler in the country. The Honda Activa 125 is offered in three variants – Standard, Alloy and Deluxe and priced at Rs.67,490, Rs.70,990 and Rs.74,990 respectively.
Honda has stated that the new BS VI compliant Activa scooters will be launched across the country in a phased manner. Not only does the Honda Activa 125 get a BS VI compliant engine but it also receives new styling, features and added safety.
It is presented in innovative color options of Rebel Red Metallic, Black, Heavy Grey Metallic, Midnight Blue Metallic, Pearl Precious White and Majestic Brown Metallic. Below is the first Honda Activa BS6 TVC video, featuring brand ambassador Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna.
As you can see in the video, the focus is on showcasing how silent the scooter is. Honda says, that the new Activa BS6 is the start of what they term as ‘The Silent Revolution.”
Honda Activa 125 BS6 FI sports a new instrument cluster with a digital readout displaying range, fuel consumption, real time fuel economy, total trip, clock, service due indicator and side stand indicator. Extensive use of chrome is seen throughout its makeup from the front apron to grab handles while the Activa 125 logo is positioned on the tail lamp also in a chrome finish.
Features also include a new LED headlamp, position lamp and tail lamp, remote fuel lid opening, remote seat hatch and a multifunction ignition key. There is also a marginal increase in dimensions and the new Honda Activa 125 BS VI now stands 1,850mm in length, 707mm in width, 1,170mm in height and gets a wheelbase of 1,260mm with a kerb weight of 111 kgs and fuel tank of 5.3 liter capacity.
Engine specifications on the new Activa 125 include a 124cc, fuel injected, PGM-F1 engine with ESP – Enhanced Smart Power. The engine will be capable of 8.1 bhp power at 6,500 rpm and 10.3 Nm torque at 5,000 rpm. Honda claims that the new Activa will present 13 percent improved mileage as compared to that offered by its earlier counterpart with globally acclaimed eSP technology, while other features will include a CBS – Combi Brake System and 3 step adjustable rear suspension.
HMSI has also offered a special 6 year warranty pack which includes 3 years of standard warranty and an added 3 years of extended warranty (optional). It will compete with the Maestro Edge 125 and the TVS NTorq 125.
