For June 2018, Honda 2Wheelers India grew faster than the industry having sold a total of 5,71,020 units, up by 28 percent from 4,44,528 units sold in June 2017. Positve growth has also led to 1 percent (0.8) increase in market share.
With 29 percent growth in the domestic market, and increase in market share by 1.4 percent, Honda reported sales at 5,35,494 units in June 2018 compared to 4,16,365 units in June 2017. Scooter sales were up 33 percent from 2,71,007 units in June 2017 to 3,61,236 units in June 2018.
Motorcycles grew by 20 percent from 1,45,358 units in June 2017 to 1,74,258 units in June 2018. Cumulative (Scooters + Motorcycles) sales stand at 383,020 and 1,88,000 units up from 2,85,862, and 158,666 units at 34 percent and 18 percent growth.
YTD – Q1 FY19 (April – June 2018) has ended in robust 16 percent sales growth for Honda 2Wheelers India at 18,04,537 units sold, up from 15,60,340 units (April- June 2017).
Motorcycle sales grew by 15 percent to 6,27,908 units in April-June 2018, up from 5,44,715 units in April- June 2017. Automatic scooter sales are reported at 11,76,629 units (April-June 2018) at 16 percent growth, up from 10,15,625 units sold in April-June 2017.
Honda reports exports grew at 39 percent to 1,14,132 units (April-June 2018) from 81,862 units (April-June 2017). Exports for the month stand at 35,526 units, up from 28,163 units exported in June 2017 at 26 percent growth. Export units are as follows – Motorcycles – 13,742; Scooter – 21,784.
Yadvinder Singh Guleria, Senior Vice President – Sales and Marketing, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. said, “Adding over 2.4 lac additional customers, Honda’s power packed performance in June 2018 is testament of the positive sentiment in buyer’s mind-set. Backed by a strong double digit growth in both motorcycle and scooter Honda, led by Activa, registered a growth of 16% in first quarter of FY 2018-19.”
The company also confirms 35 bookings for it’s newly launched 2018 Honda GoldWing.
