Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) have announced their sales results for the month of July 2018 and for the April to July quarter. Sales volumes for the month of July increased to 5,48,577 units as compared to 5,44,529 units in July 2017. The new Activa played a huge part in helping company post these sales.
During the past month a total of 3,45,550 scooters and 1,62,865 motorcycles were sold, taking total domestic sales to 5,08,415 units. While this figure is marginally lower than scooter and motorcycle sales in July 2017 when 3,43,885 scooters and 1,68,075 motorcycles were sold, exports surged to 40,162 units in July 2018 as compared to 32,569 units exported in July 2017.
Sales during the first quarter of this financial year – April to July 2018, saw scooter and motorcycle sales cross the 20 lakh mark. This is the first time that the company has crossed this mark in four months.
Domestic sales increased 10% during the past quarter from 19,90,438 units in the April-July 2017 period to 21,98,838 units in the same period of the previous year. Exports during the April-July 2018 period also saw a significant increase to 1,54,294 units as compared to 1,14,431 units exported in the same period during the previous year.
Honda automatic scooters saw a notable increase in sales by 11% in April to July 2018 period when sales stood at 14,57,485 units as compared to 13,17,607 units in the same period of previous year.Motorcycle sales also surged by 10% in the past quarter to 7,41,353 units as compared to 6,72,831 units in the last year.
The company now gears up to note increased sales during the upcoming festive season when it hopes to see increased sales specially with having introduced five model upgrades in July 2018, among which were Activa 125, CD 110 Dream, NAVi, Aviator and Activa i.
