Honda Activa scooter sales in July 2014 makes it numero one

Honda Activa’s numero one position in the Indian 2wheeler industry with 1,91,883 units sold in July 2014, achieving 64% YOY growth over July ’13. This is the 3rd time in 11 months that Activa has reported highest sales among all 2- wheelers sold in India.

No doubt Activa is exponentially gaining acceptance as a preferred bike. High growth of Scooters in India is being led by Honda and the company is confident of maintaining its lead in times to come.

Honda Activa, Honda’s top selling model was launched in FY 2001-02 and has been a winner, these past 14 years. The latest Activa 125 has seen even more response from buyers. Through July 2014, Hero sold a total of 1,65,779 units of Splendor. Honda sales of Activa scooter far surpasses that of Dream Yuga, Dream Neo, Twister, Shine, Unicorn and Trigger combined and the company even overtook Bajaj Auto in monthly motorcycle sales in July as Bajaj Auto sales totaled 1,25,053 units.

Hero Splendor is price cost effective and significantly more fuel efficient, yet buyers show more preference towards Honda Activa due to its enhanced comfort and convenience which clearly gains an edge over mileage where the entry level segment is concerned. The buyer group is empowered by families and female riders. Coming in a close third is Hero Passion of which 1,16,302 units were sold in July 2014.

Honda Activa 125 continues to command a long waiting period. Based on the popular Activa, the 125cc scooter boasts of all round performance, high level of efficiency, on board comforts and advanced features. Honda Activa 125 is offered in Standard and Deluxe variants available at a p[rice of Rs 56,607 and 62,588, respectively. Scooter colours include blue, silver, black and white.
