Honda Amaze sales crosses 4 lakh milestone – In 7 years

Honda Amaze sedan was first launched back in 2013 – In 7 years, cumulative sales have crossed 7 lakh units

Honda Amaze cumulative sales has surpassed the 4 lakh units in India, First launched in 2013, the seven year journey has been a popular one for the family sedan. Currently the 2nd-gen Honda Amaze is HCIL’s bestseller, and enjoys prominence in the segment.

Conceptualised to cater to ever-evolving needs and aspirations of Indian consumers, Honda Amaze is a contemporary sedan that has built its strong reputation based on its bold design, sophisticated and spacious interiors, driving performance, up to date features, and safety.

1st-gen Honda Amaze was launched in April 2013. By March 2018, 2.6 lakh units were sold. To date, 1.4 lakh units of the 2nd-gen model have been sold having been launched in May 2018. Honda Amaze dominance is easy to adjudge basis its sales.

FY20 sales was reported at 57,541 units. Though a notable decline was reported, sales at the end of the year had come to an abrupt halt owing to Covid-19 pandemic related lockdown. Furthermore, the auto industry was already reeling under the pressure of de-growth through FY20.

Honda Amaze enjoys demand across varied markets to ensure a steady customer base in metros and non-metros. Sales from Tier 1 markets contribute to 44 percent overall volumes.

Tier 2 and 3 markets account for combined sales of 56 percent. Automatic transmission variants are gaining traction, and the share of Amaze AT sales has increased from 9 percent for the 1st-gen to upward of 20 percent for the current model. Backed with best in class 3 years unlimited kms warranty, and lowest ‘Cost of Maintenance’, the Amaze is viewed as a value proposition for consumer purchase decision.

At the time of lockdown, HCIL introduced its online booking platform so customers can initiate purchases in safety. The service is integrated with dealerships, and is being strengthened to ensure widespread availability. BS6 compliant Honda Amaze is powered by a 1.5L i-DTEC diesel engine and 1.2L i-VTEC petrol engine available in Manual and CVT for both fuel options.
