After making global debut earlier this year in Indonesia, new Honda BR-V heads to 32nd Thailand International Motor Expo being held from December 2-13, 2015.
BR-V stands for Bold Runabout Vehicle. Developed by Honda R&D Asia Pacific Co. Ltd. (HRAP), in Thailand for Asian markets, it will make India debut at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo.
Based on the same platform as the Brio, on which the Amaze sedan and the Mobilio MPV have been built, BR-V comes with a more rugged and SUVish styling. It has a high ground clearance and wide front and rear tracks. It gets an aggressive stance with chiseled bumpers and large alloy wheels. High roof rails, wrap around tail lamps and black body cladding adds to its sporty appeal.
Honda BR-V in new brown colour.Dimensions stand at 4,455 mm length, 1,735 mm width, 1,650 mm height, 2,660 mm wheelbase while ground clearance is at 200 mm. Interiors will be seen in a seven seater arrangement in three two configuration. Space is at a premium while quality of material used being up-market.
Interiors will sport multi information display and rear air conditioning between first and second rows. Honda BR-V also receives 6” touchscreen infotainment system, steering mounted controls, dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, Vehicle Stability Control and Hill Start Assist.
Engine specifications include 1.5 liter four cyinder i-VTEC petrol engine offering 120PS power and 145 Nm torque. The engine is mated to a 6 speed manual transmission while CVT will be offered as an option. There will also be 1.5 liter diesel engine (only for India) generating 100 PS power and 200 Nm torque.
To be produced in Indonesia from January and in Thailand at the company plant in Ayutthaya, launch in India is slated for Q2 2016. Pricing could range from INR 8-12 lakh, competing with Hyundai Creta and Renault Duster.
