Yes, its a Brio hatch, but with a boot and a diesel engine. Honda will be launching its new Honda Brio Amaze sedan in Thailand on 23rd of this month, but in India, the car is not expected to arrive before April 2013. In Thailand, Brio Amaze will be launching in a price range of 455,000 THB (INR 8.18 lakhs), and 523,500 THB (INR 9.39 lakhs). Thailand will be the first country to receive this sedan while Indian markets can expect its launch only by April 2013.
Honda Brio Amaze will receive a new front grille, new alloy wheels, boot and rear door designs and will be 60mm longer and 26 kgs heavier than the Brio hatchback currently in circulation. For Thailand markets, Honda Brio Amaze will be launched in four variants – Brio Amaze S MT, S AT, V MT and V AT. All four variants will be powered by a 1.2 liter 4 cylinder 16 valve petrol engine offering maximum power of 90 bhp. This highly fuel efficient engine is being developed specially for Asian markets of India and Thailand.
Most notable fact is that Honda will be launching Amaze with a diesel engine in India. Honda sales in India have suffered enormously due to lack of any diesel car in a country which is seeing continuous increase in prices of petrol and hence this is expected to change things around once successfully launched and will compete with Maruti Suzuki Dzire of which the company sells around 12,000 units per month. The diesel Honda sedan with 5 speed manual gearbox is expected to deliver 75 PS power and a torque of 200Nm, with a mileage of 24 kmpl.
