The gloomy months of auto sales extended to August 2019 with Honda Cars India recording a 51.28 percent de-growth in terms of domestic sales. Sales in domestic markets in the past month stood at 8,291 units as compared to 17,020 units sold in August 2018. This was a significantly lower number as compared to 10,250 units sold in July 2019.
These lower sales were despite the company extending cash discounts and exchange bonuses through August 2019 which have now been further extended to the month of September as well; since the auto industry is not optimistic of any recovery despite the onset of the festive season.
September 2019 discounts are in the form of cash discounts, exchange bonus, free insurance and warranty schemes so as to entice buyers back into showrooms where stocks are piling up.
These discounts are on the Honda range of cars that include the Amaze, Jazz, WR-V, BR-V, City, Civic and CR-V. It is the Honda CR-V that comes in with the highest benefit of a cash discount of Rs.4 lakhs on prices that otherwise start at Rs.28.33 lakhs going up to Rs.32.83 lakhs. Total benefits are up to Rs 4.18 lakhs.
The Honda Amaze sub 4 meter sedan is being offered through the month of September 2019 with a 5 year warranty along with Rs.30,000 exchange bonus. There is also a special offer for those buyers of the new Amaze that do not have an old car for exchange. They can get a 3 year Honda AMC package and extended warranty for 4th and 5th year. The company is also offering a corporate discount of Rs.4,000 on the Honda Amaze.
The buyers of Honda Jazz, which rivals the Maruti Baleno and Hyundai Elite i20 in the B2 hatchback segment, will receive 1st year insurance and Rs.25,000 exchange bonus. The Honda WR-V crossover and City sedan also get 1st year insurance benefits along with exchange bonuses of Rs.20,000 and Rs.30,000 respectively.
Honda Civic is being sold at a huge cash discount of Rs 2.5 lakh. In addition to this, there is a Rs 25,000 exchange offer. Taking total benefits to up to Rs 2.65 lakhs. The Honda Civic was once among the popular models in its segment. However, the recent months have been difficult which has affected the overall demand for this 10th generation Honda Civic. Discounts on the Honda BRV are up to Rs 1.1 lakh, including benefits and freebies.
