Honda Cars India 3rd shift production a boon

Until recently, how Honda would improve vehicle delivery seemed a growing concern. That was back when HCIL production stood at 440 units a day. During the 4th gen Honda City unveil in November, Honda announced it had begun a 3rd shift, which would improve production capacity by 40%. This equates to just over 600 cars each day.

Production increase is directly reflected in Amaze sales these past 3 months, which stands at Amaze 9564 units in November, 7598 units sold in Decmeber and 7398 units sold in January 2014. In all, 66859 units of Honda Amaze has been sold since launch in April 2013.

2014-Honda-City-DieselFor January 2014, exports stood at 88 units. This is a considerable decrease when compared to 359 units exported during January 2013. Fuelled largely by Amaze sales, Honda Cars India reports another milestone by crossing 1 lakh units sales for the first time in the current financial year. For the period Apr’13– Jan 14, HCIL has sold 101370 units. This equates to 78% growth when compared to 56929 units sold during the same 10 months in the previous FY.

At the time of launch, new Honda City had alredy attarcted 9000 pre-bookings. In Janaury, HCIL sold 7184 City sedans. Jnaneswar Sen, Sr. Vice President – Marketing &Sales, Honda Cars India Ltd. said, “We have started the year on a positive note. We have received an overwhelming response to all new Honda City and the Honda Amaze continues to do strong sales. We would like to thank our customers for their constant support in achieving our highest ever monthly sales.”
