Honda Cars India 23 pct sales growth (domestic and cumulative) in March 2015

22,696 units sold in March 2015 (PY 18,426 units), equates to 23 pct sales growth. Honda India also reports highest ever annual domestic sales of 189,062 units during FY2014-15 (PY 1,34,339 units)equating to 41 growth over the last fiscal. HCIL exported a total volume of 691 units during March 2015 (PY 587 units), equating to 17.71 pct sales growth. Annual export volume is reported at 8403 units (PY 5798 units FY2013-14), equating to 45 pct growth in FY 2014–15.

Jnaneswar Sen, Sr. Vice President – Marketing and Sales, Honda Cars India Ltd., says FY2014-15 has been fruitful for Honda India. He thanked customers for a great response for the Mobilio MPV launched in July 2014. Other models too have been garnering strong sales. In the new fiscal, Honda India gears up for the Jazz hatchback launch, while looking forward to another year of good growth.

HCIL has also undertaken 36 pct growth in nationwide dealer network expansion with focus on existing markets alongside newer Tier-III cities. Honda India now operates 232 facilities in 152 cities. Model wise sales break-up for March 2015: Brio 1,642 (PY 1456), Amaze 8,128 (PY 7374), City 9,777 (PY 9518), Mobilio 3,049 units, CR-V 100 ( PY 78). Cumulative sales (domestic + exports) stood at 23,387 units (PY 19013 units), equating to 23 pct sales growth.

Last week, Honda Cars India announced annual production capacity increase at its Tapukara plant from 1,20,000 units/ annum to 1,80,000 units/ annum by mid 2016. Production expansion will increase hiring to accommodate 600 more employees at Tapukara plant. HCIL overall annual production capacity will increase from 240,000 units to 300,000 units when fully operational. Effective etoday, Katsushi Inoue comes on board as HCIL’s new President and CEO, taking over from Hironori Kanayama who has served in both positions since April 2012.
