Despite tight economic situation prevailing in the auto sector as in most other sectors in the country, Honda Cars India Limited (HCIL) has registered an 87% growth in domestic car sales. Sales during the month of November 2012 increased considerably and stood at 3,711 units as compared to 1,982 units sold in November 2011. The dismal sales last year, were because of the flooding in Thailand.
Honda Cars India has been experiencing increased sales during the past few months of this year and taking period April to November 2012 into account, the company sold 31,699 units, a growth of 49% over sales in the same period of the previous year.
During November 2012, Honda Cars India Limited sold 1,218 units of City sedan and 2,199 units of Brio while sales of Jazz hatchback totaled 186 units and that of Civic sedan totaled 72 units. Besides this, the company also sold 36 units of Accord during the month. Exports of HCIL totaled 326 units in November 2012.
Honda recently took the wraps of their new Brio Amaze sedan in Thailand. Equivalent prices in Indian markets vary from Rs 8.11 lakhs to 9.5 lakhs, which might seem a bit too expensive for Indian markets. However, the company is confident that with higher localization, they will be able to control costs, as the Honda Amaze gets set for launch in the country by early 2013.
