The fourth largest car manufacturer in the country, Honda Cars India Limited. (HCIL) have revealed that for the month of September 2015, their sales (including exports) stood at 19,291 units. This compared to their sales in September 2014 (15,395 units), is an increase of 23%.
In the domestic market, HCIL posted sales of 18,509 units last month, as against 15,015 units sold in Sep 2014. This too is an increase of 23%. Speaking about exports, the company exported a total of 782 cars during September 2015, as against 380 cars exported in September 2014. This is an increase of 106%.
In India, Honda sells a total of six models – CR-V SUV, Mobilio MPV, City sedan, Amaze compact sedan, Jazz hatchback, and Brio small car. The models which performed well for Honda in September 2015 were Jazz, Amaze, and City.
In numbers, Honda Amaze registered sales of 6,577 units, Honda City came second with sales of 5,702 units, Honda Jazz registered sales of 4,762 units, Brio registered sales of 759 units, Mobilio registered sales of 643 units, while CR-V registered sales of 66 units.
With a manufacturing capacity of 240,000 units annually, from their two production plants, one each in Greater Noida and Tapukara, HCIL upcoming launch is expected to be the Brio based 7 seater SUV – BR-V.
Honda BR-V was officially unveiled at the Indonesia Motor Shwo in August this year. Expect it to arrive in India by 2016, where it will rival the likes of Renault Duster, Nissan Terrano and Mahindra Scorpio.
