Honda Cars India expands annual production capacity at Tapukara plant from 1,20,000 units/ annum to 1,80,000 units/ annum. Additional capacity is scheduled to be ready by mid 2016. Production expansion will generate employment of about 600 people at Tapukara plant. Expansion increases HCIL’s overall annual production capacity from 240,000 units to 300,000 units including the 120,000 unit capacity at its Greater Noida plant.
HCIL reported 44 pct growth in domestic sales during April 2014 – Feb 2015 with 166,366 units (PY 115,913 units). Honda Amaze, 4th Gen City and Mobilio in India are attributed to maintaining strong sales. India is an important market for Honda and holds great potential for future growth.
HCIL Tapukara plant assembly operations began in February 2014. Integrated plant functions include operations for forging, casting, stamping, powertrain components production, welding, painting, resin molding, engine assembly, and frame assembly and engine testing. Honda Cars India Ltd reported 16 pct growth for domestic sales in February 2015 with 16,902 units sold (PY 14,543 units). HCIL exports were reported at 1,119 units (PY 252 units). Unit sales for last month stood as follows: Brio 1,397, Amaze 7,163, City 6,505, Mobilio 1,697, CR-V 140. Total sales stood at 18,021 units (PY 14795 units) equating to 21.8 pct overall sales growth.
